NEON lights filled the skyline in Summercourt last week when the village’s famous fair rolled into town.

The annual Summercourt Fair has been held in the village for centuries, changing from a place to buy and sell cattle in the 1700s to the modern and bright attraction it is today.

Roads were closed for the street market which sold food, arts and crafts, gadgets and gifts and hundreds of visitors made their way into the fair to enjoy some of the many rides on offer.

The Rowlands funfair featured favourites such as the dodgems, waltzers and the rhythm dancer and for the more daring there was the Danters oxygen booster, the Evans Thriller Express Matterhorn and the Orbiter.

Children could enjoy a ghost train or one of the gentler rides and there were many prizes to be won on a wide range of games.

There were also 2p machines and claw machines on site for those who preferred to try their luck at the arcade-style machines.

A visitor said: “Our favourite thing at Summercourt is the atmosphere with the music and the bright lights.

“We love it and come every year to try out some of the rides and enjoy some candy floss.”
